Toyota's VIP remote start system is an excellent feature that allows you to crank your engine from a distance, and even pre-set your air conditioning or heat to cool or warm the vehicle. If you didn't get remote start on your vehicle, see your local dealer about adding the feature.

     Make sure you are no further than 80 feet from your vehicle before using your remote starter. The Toyota remote has a maximum range of 80 feet.

     Press the "lock" button (which is a symbol of a closed lock) twice quickly, and then press and hold the button for three seconds. The doors in your Toyota will automatically lock and the engine will start.

   • 3

     Press the "unlock" (symbol of an open lock) button to turn your engine off.

Tips & Warnings

• Don't worry about vehicle security. The Toyota remote start feature automatically shuts the engine off if the doors are opened. The vehicle cannot be driven without the key, so there is no risk of theft.
