How to Replace a 1993 Toyota Pickup Headlight

How to Replace a 1993 Toyota Pickup Headlight

The Toyota Pickup was first introduced in 1976, when Toyota dropped the Hilux name from its company pickup truck. It remained as the Pickup until mid-1995, when Toyota renamed it the Tacoma. Replacing the headlight on the 1993 Toyota Pickup is relatively easy.

  1. Type

    • The 1993 Toyota Pickup makes use of a square sealed-beam headlight. This means that instead of having a small bulb inserted into a plastic assembly, the Pickup uses a large glass assembly as its headlight. The entire assembly must be replaced when the bulb burns out.

    Removal

    • Getting the sealed-beam headlight off of the Pickup requires the removal of a few components. You must first remove the two screws securing the side marker bulbs to the Toyota's body. After that, the truck's grill must be removed by pressing the clips and pulling it forward. Lastly, there is a metal bezel surrounding the headlight; remove that, pull the headlight out and then unplug the headlight.

    Installation

    • Plug the new headlight into the wiring harness and sit it in the front of the truck. Place the bezel around the headlight and tighten the screws. Push the grill on until the clips snap into place. Finally, tighten the screws securing the side marker lights to the Toyota's body.
