Instructions

    • 1

Make any minor repairs needed. You want the Toyota to be in the best running shape possible without spending too much money. If you do nothing else, be sure to change the oil and air filter.

    • 2

Clean and polish the Toyota. You must have the Toyota looking in the best shape possible before potential buyers see it. This means you need to wash the car inside and out. Use soap, polish and interior cleaner to make it shine.

    • 3

Place an advertisement in your local newspaper. If there is a section devoted entirely to Toyota cars, make sure your ad is placed there. Place the asking price for the Toyota, your phone number and a location where potential buyers can see and test drive the Toyota.

    • 4

Browse the Internet for Websites dedicated strictly for Toyota cars. Once you find a Website, see if it has a classified ad section. Place an advertisement for your Toyota onto the site with all the vital information.

    • 5

Continue driving your Toyota. Place a "for sale" sign in one of the side windows. Place the asking price for the car and the phone number where potential buyers can reach you on the sign.

    • 6

Check any local Websites that cater to your neighborhood. If they have a for sale classified section, place an ad for your Toyota.

    • 7

Talk to local dealerships. While most will not offer you top dollar for your vehicle, you may find some dealerships that will give you what the car is currently worth. Keep an open mind when talking to dealers, but make sure that you don't accept any offer that is less than you can afford to accept for your Toyota.

Tips & Warnings

  • Be sure to take digital photos of the Toyota.

  • Don't be caught off-guard. Have a set price in your head before potential buyers begin calling. This set price should be a little lower than your asking price. This gives you negotiating power
